Soft opened in May 2016, the Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch takes place in the former Old Street Magistrate House and Police station. A dash of british tradition mixed with a little eccentricity make it a very elegant and stylish place. Let's take a tour !
Location :
Shoreditch is quite famous for its busy nightlife, its entertaining bars and its eccentric shops. Naturally, one of the latest trendy place to open in London had to be in this bustling and young area.
This brand new hotel takes place in a historic building, Grade II Baroque, which architecture reminds the past centuries of the Kingdom.
Lobby :
The arrival starts with an impressive staircase under a very high ceiling, original ground floor, ornature furnitures and a soooo british leather sofa ! Love it ! Lots of elegance and sophistication in the same place.
Bar and Restaurant :
The bar and restaurant take place in the former main courtroom with original but refurbished stained glass windows.
The bar is a blend of original features such as wood panelling and comtemporary elements. Fire hydrants are converted into tables !
When I was talking about eccentricity, where else than in the daring UK can you find modern portraits of Mona Lisa and Darth Vador in the same room ?
The Courthouse Hotel Shoreditch has taken advantage of the building's criminal past to create a off-the-wall atmosphere. Former cells with their intact metal doors have been refurbished into VIP and cozy booths. Graffiti-style murals of former inhabitants and leather seats turn them into a very intimate and stylish place to enjoy a cocktail with your dearest friends.
Roof Top :
The hotel features on the fifth floor an amazing rooftop with views on the city and its londonian buildings. Once again, decoration is very original, can't be seen anywhere else. Steel and metal elements completly fit into this up to date atmosphere. It's definitly one of the best rooftop of the area, can't wait to come back during summertimes !
Guest rooms :
The 128 guestrooms will provide a comtemporary atmosphere with grey touches and leather headboard.
I had the chance to stay in a suite, which marble bathroom comes with all the modern equipments you might need : flat screen TV for your bath and walk-in rain shower. A place to pamper yourself :)
Spa :
Finally, one the the edge of the hotel is definitly the Spa. Heated indoor swimming pool with hydrojets, steam room and sauna will help you to evacuate all the pressure of our modern life. The pool is heated at the right temperature to enjoy some relaxing time and its size is really appreciable for an european city hotel.
